SELECTED
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Imperial Valley
Irrigation District Network Modeling and Database – Imperial Valley, CA,
2005-Present.
Updated and expanded irrigation
network GIS, constructed geometric network, and applied MODSIM framework.
Created relationships and time series between canals, gates, parcels, and
fields for various spatial analyses. Conducted for Davids Engineering,
Davis, CA.
Antelope Pardee Transmission Line Viewshed
Analysis – Angeles National Forest, CA, 2005.
Performed seen-unseen analysis of landscape from Key Observation Points
(KOPs), and unioned viewsheds to indicate number of times seen. Created 3D perspective views from each
KOP. Created 3D flythrough animation of
study area for presentation. Conducted
for Aspen Environmental Group, Saramento, CA.
Devers-Palo Verde
Transmission Line Assessment – Californa and Arizona, 2005-Present. Captured existing and proposed tower positions
through linear referencing and photo interpretation. Produced GIS maps and
wrote VBA script to automate batch PDF export of map sheet atlas in ArcMap. Conducted
for Aspen Environmental Group, Sacramento, CA.
Granite Fox Power
Project EIS – Humbolt, Pershing, Washoe Counties, Nevada, 2005. Performed data capture, linear referencing, and
cartography. Implemented automated map
sheet production with VBA. Conducted for Robert Scott Environmental
Services, Denver, CO.
Meadow Valley Wash
Vegetation Change Detection – Lincoln and Clark County, Nevada, 2005. Georeferenced new CIR aerial photography and
overlaid it against 2003 imagery to map and quantify vegetation change due to
flooding and human disturbance. Created
map sheet atlases. Conducted for BIO/West, Inc., Logan, UT.
Lower Colorado River
Orthorectification and Vegetation Mapping – Arizona, California, and Nevada, 2004-Present. Laid ground-control panels and performed GPS
survey in preparation of flight to obtain digital multispectral imagery of the
lower 600 miles of the Colorado River. Created and edited DEM, orthorectified,
color-balanced, mosaicked, and compressed imagery. Built custom GIS interfaces using VBA and ArcObjects to automate
map production and plotting, and also to simplify aspects of vegetation mapping
for biologists. Managed GIS support of vegetation mapping. Conducted for the
Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City, NV.
ArcGIS Customization – West Valley City, 2004. Built custom personal geodatabase; used
Visual Basic for Applications and ArcObjects to make custom edit, data
conversion, and plotting tools.
Conducted
for Granger-Hunter Improvement District, West Valley City, UT.
Hotchkiss Transmission Line EA – Montrose County,
Colorado, 2004. Built personal
geodatabase and developed custom GIS for automated map production and
plotting. Conducted for Tri-State
Generation and Transmission, Denver, CO.
Meadow Valley Wash Ecological Assessment – Lincoln and Clark County, Nevada, 2003-2004. Rectified aerial images and produced field atlases for mapping. Performed data capture and spatial analysis of vegetation and avian habitat data. Conducted for BIO/West, Inc., Logan, UT.
Ruby Mountain Heli-Ski Rare Plant Survey – Lamoille, Nevada, 2003. Produced GIS maps and prepared images in support of ski-mountain plant survey. Conducted for Cirrus Ecological Solution, Logan, UT.
Delta County Transmission Line EA – Delta, Colorado, 2003-Present. Produced GIS maps of various features in Delta County in support of an Environmental Assessment. Conducted for Tri-State Generation and Transmission, Denver, CO.
GIS Mapping - San Diego County, California, 2003-Present. On-screen mapped vegetation and land-use along aqueduct corridor for analysis of land-use changes and urbanization. Conducted for the San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego, California.
The following selected projects were performed prior to joining Geo/Graphics:
Testing the Limits of Photogrammetry to Monitor Erosion of Archaeological Sites in Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2001-2003. Manually collected photogrammetry elevation points and created digital terrain models for four archaeological sites. Analyzed accuracy, performed change detection, and developed GIS methods to more efficiently collect elevation points and maximize accuracy. Conducted for Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, Flagstaff, Arizona.
Geomorphology Related to Gully Erosion of Archaeological Sites in Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2001-2003. Performed total-station ground surveys, collected soils and vegetation field data, and described geomorphology of drainages to assess causality of erosion and potential impacts of climate change, human visitation, and Glen Canyon Dam operations. Applied topographic data in GIS model to map locations vulnerable to erosion for future monitoring purposes. Conducted for Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, Flagstaff, Arizona.
Assessment of Gully Erosion-Control Structures in Grand
Canyon, Arizona, 2001-2003. Monitored and
determined positive and negative impacts of gully erosion-control
structures. Results and recommendations
will be incorporated in future gully remediation and monitoring efforts by the
National Park Service and the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center. Conducted
for Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, Flagstaff, Arizona.
