Mr. Petersen specializes in the use of GIS and remote sensing to monitor sensitive landscapes. His Master's Thesis Research used high-resolution aerial photos within a GIS to determine the top accuracy of aerial photogrammetry and its utility in monitoring remote archaeological sites threatened by gully erosion. He also used the photogrammetry terrain models to predict locations of gullies and high-risk archaeological sites. Mr. Petersen has developed project experience in several GIS and photogrammetry applications, including resource mapping, ArcObjects programming, and analytical support for environmental- and civic-related studies. Mr. Petersen's computer software expertise includes ERDAS Imagine 8.7 and Leica Photogrammetry Suite, ESRI Arc/Info Workstation, ArcView GIS 3.3, and ArcGIS 9, Spectra Precision TERRAMODEL, TDS Foresight, ERMapper 6.4, OrthoVista 4.0, Manifold Systems 6.5, Adobe CS2, and Visual Basic for Applications. He also has field experience with GPS data collection and total-station surveying.
