QUALIFICATIONS

 

Ms. Schemper specializes in the use of GIS software to assist Geo/Graphics with projects related to sensitive landscapes and land-use issues.  Her academic background focused primarily on the relationship between society and the natural environment.  Ms. Schemper also brings several years of technical and scientific writing experience to Geo/Graphics.  

 

Ms. Schemper’s areas of software expertise include ArcView 3.3, ArcGIS 9, Canvas 9 Professional, AutoCad, and ERDAS Imagine 8.7.  She also has experience with total-station surveying, as well as handheld GPS data collection and analysis.

SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCE

 

Imperial Irrigation District Network Modeling -- Imperial Valley, California, 2005-present.  Mapped area-wide irrigation features such as fields, canals, and water delivery gates; currently performing various spatial analyses of fields, including remote sensing analysis of evapotranspiration and biomass rates based on SEBAL data, and preparing maps for delivery.  Conducted for Imperial Irrigation District, Imperial, California.

 

Lower Colorado River Vegetation Mapping – Arizona, California, and Nevada, 2005-2006.  Primary project duties were on-screen mapping and GIS geodatabase management of vegetation along lower 600 miles of the Colorado River corridor; also performed fieldwork for GIS ground-truthing efforts, completed accuracy assessment for final GIS, and contributed to final written report.  Conducted for the Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City, Nevada.

 

The following projects were completed prior to joining Geo/Graphics, Inc.:

 

Scenic Byways Mapping, December 2005-February 2006.  Created maps of scenic byways across the United States for interactive online use using ArcMap 9.1.  Conducted for Scenic Byways Online at Utah State University, Logan, Utah.

 

Income and Race in the Grand Rapids Metropolitan Area – Kent County, Michigan, 2004.  Used ArcView 3.3 to examine the relationship between race and income in the greater Grand Rapids area.  Conducted for Calvin College GIS and Remote Sensing, Spring 2004.

 

Vegetative Inventory of Plaster Creek: A Study of Riparian Invasives in West Michigan – Kent County, Michigan, 2004.  Conducted a detailed vegetative inventory of riparian species along Plaster Creek; project required extensive use of Canvas 9 Professional.  Conducted for Calvin College Plant Taxonomy, Fall 2004.
